How to upgrade the Nokia 5800 update to V21
It is good news that the firmware update for the Nokia 5800 has been released. New firmware V21 available. If you own a 5800, follow the simple instructions to your V20 or V10 update to the latest V21.
Make sure your battery is full (VERY IMPORTANT)
1. Go to Dial screen and press * # 0000 #
2. Press Options -> Check for updates
3. Connect to the Internet with an APN (WiFi is advised EDGE is fast enough for this).
4. Wait until the download is complete. Phone will launch in the dialog box asking for the update, just press now.
5. Press Accept and accept and the phone will switch to update mode.
6. It takes about 10 minutes to work, so be patient. After that, the phone will automatically be started.
7. Check this by typing * # 0000 # again. Congratulations! Your 5800 is now V21!
As I can see, there are so many improvements and worth to update camera functionality such as better and the phone works faster than the previous version.

Best settings for video playback on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic
Nokia 5800 multimedia phone, if you are able to enjoy watching the video and music with you. The question is how to do to convert the videos and what are the best setting. I have many videos into my phone, I found that most video files with this phone, such as MP4, 3GP, RMVB and FLV files. But they played well, but some are not. After many attempts, I finally got the best results for Nokia video files. My video in 5800 was full screen, high quality and sounds very good. Here are my settings:
Video resolution: 480 * 320
Video Bitrate: 768 kbps
Audio Bitrate: 128 kbps
Video Format: MPEG-4 (H264 certainly not to use because it is not supported in current firmware)
Audio Format: MP3
Audio Channels: 2 channels
You can change these settings in here which application you use to convert videos in 5800. Then I am sure you full screen, high quality and flawless video to get into your phone.

Settings for video playback on the Nokia N97, N95, N85 and other Nokia phones.
Nokia N97: Video playback formats 3GP format, Flash Video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, 640 × 360 video resolution. Audio formats AAC, M4A, MP3, WAV, WMA etc.
Nokia N96: the playback of video formats 3GP, Flash Video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, RealVideo, WMV 9, the video resolution is 320 x 240. Audio formats AAC, MP3, WAV, WMA etc.
Nokia N95: playing video formats MP4, 3GP. Video resolution is up to 640 * 480, audio format is AAC stereo.
Nokia N85: Video playback formats 3GP formats, Flash Video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4 and WMV. The resolution is 320 x 240. The audio formats are AAC, M4A, MP3, WAV and WMA etc.

How to watch video files to Nokia 5800
I have some videos to download video site like YouTube, Google Video. But I can not watch these videos on my phone. Nokia 5800 can not play as videos. I use Internet Tablet Video Converter to convert, but it shows “Unsupported Video File Type”. Then I had to Nokia Video Converter Nidesoft know that looks professional for Nokia phone, I downloaded free trial version and tried it and it works very well. Below are what I do:
1. This program downloaded from the official website: http://www.nidesoft.com/nokia-video-converter.html and install it.
2. Click the Add button to convert video files from your computer to add
3. According to the settings I listed above, you can set a size 480 * 320, crop as Full Screen, video quality as 640 kbps, 128 kbps audio quality, click the Format list, choose video format: MPEG -4 Video Nokia 5800

4. Click Convert button to start the conversion. After the conversion is complete, you can watch these videos with the Nokia 5800.
Options: you can watch music videos this way. But pay attention to the format. If Nokia 5800 supports MP3 audio format, you must “MP3 – MPEG Layer-3 Audio (*. mp3)”.

How to convert DVD files to Nokia 5800
Obviously phones do not have DVD drives, so in order to watch DVDs on a phone you have to convert a video file on your PC, drag it into your phone. I follow the above settings and converting DVD files to MPEG-4 video with Nokia Converter Nidesoft, the results are excellent. You can free download trial version to try it this way:
1. Insert your DVD into the DVD Drive. Click the Open DVD button, browse your computer, the DVD folder of the movie to find and open it. Select the titles and chapters you want to convert, or the entire movie.
2. Click the Settings button, set your video resolution, bitrate, audio channels and audio bitrate.

If you select audio format “MP3 – MPEG Layer-3 Audio (*. mp3)” You can also transfer music from DVD.

To transfer files to Nokia 5800
In the tutorial I explain how Nokia convert videos from DVDs and other video files. Then you need these videos to your phone.
1. Make sure your computer and phone are both enabled. Also make sure your 5800 a memory card into the slot.
2. Insert the small end of the microUSB cable into the USB connector of the phone which is under a plastic flap on the top left.
