Developers Earn Over $20 Billion from App Store in 2016

Apple says that $20 billion were made by App Store developers in year 2016 which is 40% more as compared to 2015. Customer purchases of $240 million were made in total at New Year’s Day on Apple Store, according to the company.

The most earning apps of the year were told by company that includes Fantasy Westward, Monster strike, Pokemon Go and Clash Royale. The most downloaded app on New Year’s Day and Christmas was Super Mario Run. Total of $3 billion was spent by customers in December on the App Store.

It was told by Apple’s senior VO Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller that 1st January 2017 was the single biggest day for purchases on App Store while 2016 was also a record breaking year with generation of $20 billion for developers.

According to Apple, the names of independently developed apps that earned most in 2016 were Reigns, Prisma, Lumino City, Procreate, djay Pro and Sweat with Kayla.

For fight against AIDS and World Wildlife Fund, Apple raised $17 billion for the campaigns named “Product (Red)” and “Apps for Earth Program” respectively.

HBO Now, Netflix, MLB.com and Tinder are the apps with subscription fee for which Apple’s total revenue in 2016 remained $2.7 billion that was 74% more as compared to 2015.

The new iMessage App Store was also mentioedn by Apple as the users can now install 21,000 iMessages apps.

In just one day, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg lost around $3 billion.

It has been proved as the largest single day loss for an individual investor as the fall of value of Facebook on Thursday was the reason behind this enormous loss to the head of social media giant.

The shares of Facebook were down to 5.5% when chief financial officer of the company told investors that they are expecting meaningful decline from advertising revenue growth. The stock worth of Facebook is $50.2 billion of which Zuckerberg holds shares of $418 million.

According to an estimate, $52.2 billion is the total net worth of Zuckerberg which makes him the 5th richest person in this world. For the year, Facebook shares have gone up by 15% despite Thursday’s loss which increase net worth of Zuckerberg by $6.4 billion.

Facebook is one of the largest ad publisher in Pakistan and now the company has starting accepting Pakistani rupees for payments of its on-site Ads in Pakistan.

Now the Pakistani users don’t have to pay in US dollars or other currencies for Facebook ads and they can pay in Pakistani rupees for this purpose.

Through this process, the local advertisers can save lot of money that was lost previously due to conversion of currency.

Those Pakistanis who pay in dollars were charged higher by banks as compared to open market while they also have to pay currency exchange fee of 3.5%.

Now these Pakistanis advertisers can easily save from Rs. 8000 to 10000 on payment of Rs. 100,000. Pakistani rupees can be selected by the advertisers by going to their ‘account setting’ page in the section of “manage my ads” and then change the currency setting.

But with the change of account currency, facebook will create a new ad account where your old campaigns will not appear but it will only show your new campaigns.
