7 Link Building Mistakes You Should Avoid

There is so much B.S. flying around Webmaster circles these days about what you should or should not do about link building. One “Guru” will tell you that you should “Do This” when building links and another will tell you “Not To Do This” when link building.

If the top SEO experts around the World can not come to an agreement about what should or should not be done when building links, then what is the every day Joe supposed to do?

Just take a look at the document over at SEOmoz about ranking factors.

Rand surveyed the 37 top SEO experts in the world. Basically, the survey set of questions for each expert. The group of experts could not come up with an agreement rating of more than a lot of questions!

So now that we know can not “experts” agree, I could also tell you the mistakes I made / seen webmasters have done enough.

  1. Failing to procure reciprocal links. I’ve seen so called SEO Guru’s say that reciprocal linking is dead and they will hurt your site. This just isn’t so. As we say in the South “They’re talking out their asses.” I have several blogs and websites with PR2 to PR4 that have nothing more than reciprocal links pointing at them. The important thing to remember is to make sure they links your trade are from quality sites. It doesn’t matter if they’re PR0, just make sure they’re not from a spam/adult/pharmacy/hate type site. Reciprocal links can be on a resource page if you run a website or a Blogroll for you bloggers. Just remember to trade!
  2. Failing to acquire low PR links. For some reason, many Webmasters do not want PR0 sites linking to them. This is link building suicide! One day, those PR0 sites could be the next PR5 or better. Frankly, I don’t care who links to my sites. I can’t control it and if they’re passing any amount of authority, which even PR0 pass some, I’ll take it. It also looks natural when you have many more low authority sites pointing to your site than all high PR sites.
  3. Failing to link out. Once again, we’re talking about making your site look natural to search engines, especially Google. Authority sites link out to other authority sites. Google is expected to see this. I can not say how many times I’ve had a site stuck in the SERPS only to get a little big when I linked to a higher authority site. In some cases, I was standing right below the Wikepedia. Seemed no matter how many links I had I attended. I would then link the content in Wikipedia. In some cases, that was all it took for me to leap frog over them in the SERPS. So link out to authority sites! Before using a service like 3 Way Links, read reviews like 3waylinks.net review, it’s a good article on 3 way link systems.
  4. Failure to check your reciprocal link partners websites. Once you exchange links with someone, you need to follow up on a routine basis and make sure the link back to your site is still there. Some sites go down, accounts are closed, domains let expired and purchased by someone else, Webmasters changing website topics and some Webmasters simply taking your link down after you exchange links. I’ve seen people put ‘nofollow’ on the links after they’ve made a trade. I’ve seen it all happen, that’s why I monitor my link partners and you should also.
  5. Failing to use Anchor text in your link. If someone gives you the opportunity to use Anchor text in the link back to your site, use it! In my opinion, anchor text in a backlink is the second biggest off page ranking factor for seo. Only the relevancy and authority of the page where the backlink originates is more important in my experience.
  6. Failing to cover up your paid link footprints. Look, from now until the end of the time, people will sell links. And from now until the end of time, Google will be trying to get paid links. And this last time, you will see blogs, websites and blog networks (think Backlink Solutions) get indexed by the sale of your links. If you’re going to buy or sell links, you’d better be hiding to seek or Big Daddy G is going to get you one dark, cold and stormy night. There are several ways of hiding your look, I covered one way in my link laundering article a few weeks ago.
  7. Failing to build links. I see people on the forums all the time asking how they should go about link building or how to get started link building. Many say they don’t know how and so they don’t even try. People! I hate link building as much as the next person, but it’s not Rocket Science. You may be able to rank high in a low competitive keyword niche with on-page SEO, but for a competitive niche where’s there’s money to be made, you’re going to need some relevant backlinks! TIP: One of the most effective link building strategies you can perform is to find out who’s linking to your competition and get links from them. You simply go to Google and type in link:yourcompetitorssite.com. You’ll then get a list of sites that are linking to your competitors site. Browse that site to see if there is a place to put a link to your own site at. If not, simply Contact the person running the site and ask kindly for a link. Many times they will not respond, but some will. Now, out of those sites, do the same thing. See who’s linking to them and get links from those sites!

Okay, so you are Article 7 of the biggest mistakes I link building I either seen or done on a regular basis. What’s important to remember that these avoidable mistakes. There are some temporary effects on your ratings and other people can have a lasting impact on how your website ranks in the SERPS.

So, what’s up with the flurry of recent articles link building? Well, he is working up to the document I’m working on and off for almost a year now. It started out small and has taken to life itself. Stay in touch if you are serious about link building, as this article will be more than 100 link building strategies laid out perhaps even closer to 125 or more!

1 Little Secret That Can Explode Your Blog’s Earnings

Are you satisfied with the money you’re making off of your Blog? Are the Adsense dollars pouring in? How about those Affiliate links? If so, stop reading, this post is not for you. Now if you’re in the group that is not satisfied with your Blog’s earnings potential, I have on technique that will likely be more profitable than Adsense and Affiliate links combined.

To maximize their income blogging, you should offer your own information in the form of Ebook or Special Report . Yes, some of you that may sound corny, but it happens to be fact. Why else would people visit your blog, but to obtain the information it has to offer?

What is a niche blog? You should now have an answer to this, if not, here is the definition of a niche blog in a nutshell.

A niche blog is very focused blog about one aspect of this issue. Let’s say you have a car blog. The blog will be a niche blog about muscle cars. No VW or Pontiac Sun birds. Muscle Cars from the late 60′s and early 70′s and that’s it. This is a niche blog, pure and simple.

I have two niche blogs, I’ve been experimenting village Both are ho hum performers with Adsense and affiliate links. Then had the idea to write a little Ebook (is more like Minority Report) on one side of the niche. I wrote a 24 page report and then hired a writer from Elance to write another (16 pages). Needless to say, which I wrote much more professional looking, but it did take longer to pay for themselves. Only I wrote is making money on the first sale.

Both books were sold for $ 10 each from their blogs.

I pressed my marketing efforts for these two niche blogs for a period of 1 month. These two blogs make anywhere from $ 3-7 $ per day with Adsense and affiliate links before adding books.

After the eBooks were added, the Adsense and Affiliate link income remained basically the same, however I was selling between 2 and 5 ebooks per day. Now I know that’s not earth shattering, but then again, neither was the traffic to these sites. These sites only average about a couple hundred hits per day. The conversion rate was extremely good I might add (no pun intended ;) ). One benefit of traffic to a niche blog is that your traffic is interested in what you have to say or they wouldn’t be there in the first place!

Is this really a “secret”? It should be. Have you ever visit the site who is interested and hours if not days or weeks click around looking for more information and be caught thinking “Heck, why not just put all this information in one place that is easy to get to? “and I bet you have too. But they do not make this information easy to get at. Click here click here on this link. I want information in one place, it is easy to win and I’m willing to pay for it! Guess what, to have your readers!

If you’re looking to maximize your niche blogs income seriously looking to offer your own information product. You do not need to be a great writer to do it. You can hire your own great writer to do it for you. Do you think that all the Guru’s write any Ebook or the entire contents of their websites? In any case. They all use the paid writers to increase their time and profit potential your site at some point will have to consider hiring your own as well.

But for the mean time, write down several ideas for an information product that you can include on your niche blog. Begin the research and start writing. Give yourself a time line of one week to finish this project, otherwise it may be one of those projects that never get done. I finished one eBook in about 3 hours working on it part time for 3 nights after getting home from my “real” job.

Good luck, go out there and make some money with your blog!

The Real Cost of Web Content – Content Provider vs PLR Articles

cnote

As someone who has more than a few websites, I’m always on the lookout for web content. Not just any web content, but web site content I feel good about puting on the Internet. It’s not as easy as it sounds.

Currently in my files I have over 20,000 PLR articles. I was a “member” at-PLR sites that give you PLR articles each month, plus I’ve bought PLR articles off by Webmaster forums. That being said, I used only about 15 of these members do not, 15k, but 15. Of these, I had to change all to get them internet ready. This is one reason I no longer buy PLR articles! By the time “editing” the damn things enough to make them unique and looks like one of my sites, I could write an article! Which leads me to believe ….

PLR Articles are One of the Biggest Rip Offs in Affiliate Marketing Today!

Try this the next time you’re tempted to use a PLR article on one of your websites. Take the title name and type it into Google with quotes around it so that Google will only search for that title. Now you can see how many other people are using the same article. Or better yet, after you’ve changed the article up to suit you, run it through Copyscape to see the results you get. You have to change sentence and paragraph structures of those PLR articles to get them unique.

Now if Copyscape can find duplicate articles within a few seconds, how fast do you think it takes Google? Can you say duplicate content penalty?

The Advantages of Quality Web Site Content

Now I come to content providers. No, not people who sell PLR articles or membership. Content providers are the people who actually write articles for you.

Some time ago I was in a webmaster forum and there was a post from someone who wants written articles. He asked to see what a 500-word article will cost to have written. The answers he received ranged from $ 3 to $ 25.

Then he made a follow up post saying that the two highest candidates 500 word article is not worth $ 20 or $ 25. He was not alone, other forum members said the same thing. I do not know who he chose to 500 word article written, but I’m sure it was at the low end.

It is I should think.

Why spend a great Webmaster many hours building and maintaining their sites, use the latest tools and technologies, and then refuse to put quality content on their sites? It’s like buying a Porsche and putting old lawnmower gas in it! Duh!

The Real Cost Associated With Web Content

Being curious, I decided to go and look at my Adsense account and picked one of my older sites to see what my most profitable page was. I keep logs from month to month (actually I just print out one from Google) so I can see what content my readers like. This particular site has an adsense channel name for every page. It’s a site that I do most of my experimenting on when it comes to Google Adsense.

My top page on that particular site made me $44.80 last month. The month before, $59.36. Now this is a domain that receives about 60 to 125 hits per day. This is only one of about 90 pages on that site.

So what’s so great about those numbers? That page makes me between $35 and $50 every month on average.

In comparison, my lowest performing page on that site made me $8.19 last month. (both pages get near the same number of impressions) It’s a PLR article that I modified. I should have just written the article on the keyword phrase I was trying to target, but I got lazy and it has cost me over the last two years.

So Why Am I Telling You This?

Well, this is certainly not to brag. These numbers are nothing to write home about. The reason this point is to make my point that good quality content does not cost you that pays you over and over again, month after month, year after year, as a good blue chip dividend paying stock.

So I paid $ 20 for a well written and researched article. How long will it take to make your money back from this article? One month? Two months? Even if it is 3 months (and should, if traffic), once this article has paid for itself, everything is first profit month after month, year after year. KaChing, KaChing, KaChing.

Similarly, this article PLR you do not realize the maximum amount of profit that it can be if it was written better. It cost you money every month, year after year. This is a shed sitting on valuable real estate.

Other Advantages of Quality Content Providers

I don’t use Content Providers to just write articles for my websites, I also use for article marketing plus I use the web content to build opt in email list. A Content Provider who can write captivating keyword rich content are worth their weight in Gold!

Any one use product specific landing pages and sale sheets? I have a few “go to” people for writing content for landing pages and sales pages. Again, it’s not what they cost, it’s about how much they’re going to make you in the long run.

A Good Content Provider Is An Investment

As with any investment, there are front costs associated with the content of the web site before you turn a profit. Of course, some investments fail, but if you know your niche and can spot good content when I see information from the sites will pay a short period of time.

Do not think about buying goods from the content providers just like “paying someone to write an article, you must think of it as investing in its website. Once you see the potential payout, well written and researched article is $ 20 Golden ATM. KaChing, KaChing, KaChing!

How To Find Good Content Providers

I’ve went through quite a few content providers in the last 10 years. I’ve found them in nearly every place you can imagine. I’ve paid family members, friends and others I know to write content for some of my sites. I’ve also used the Marketplace sections of most Webmaster Forums such as DigitalPoint to find others. On larger jobs, I’ve posted “help wanted” post at eLance and RentACoder.

I found one of my best Content Providers by taking out a small classified ad in the local paper. It simply said I needed people to write interesting and unique articles, I gave an email address and told them to apply with a sample article.

The ad me land a retired English teacher who wanted to make some extra money. I might pay between $ 10 and $ 15 per article. It lasted about a year and then moved back East with her children. I wanted her to continue writing, but obviously it did not have time with all the grandchildren around. Man, let me say that it is a sad day when she left!

Not all content providers are created equal. Let us send you a sample and give them a trial run. You will probably go through several before you find one you like. It takes time, but the payout will be worth it.

I know I’ve found a good Content Provider when their article holds my attention through the entire article. If I find it interesting, visitors to my site will also. Happy visitors click ads, sad visitors hit the “Back” button.

Drive Targeted Traffic To Your Site through Yahoo Answers

yahoo-answers

I’ve resisted trying Yahoo Answers for some time now. However, the last two weeks I decided to play around with Yahoo Answers to see if it was a viable option to drive traffic to my websites. I’m happy to report that this could be a hidden gem when it comes to building traffic! But be warned, do it wrong and you’ll end up banned. Here’s how I’ve been doing it.

Creating an Account on Yahoo Answers

The first thing you’ll need is a Yahoo account. It’s easy, just go on over to Yahoo.com and sign up. I would not suggest you use your main account if you have one. Yahoo accounts are easy enough to come by without putting your main account in jeopardy.

Next, click on “Answers” in the upper part of the sidebar to the left.

Once there, take 5 minutes to create an avatar. This is more important than what you think it is. Yahoo has a avatar generator. Use it! An avatar, for what ever reason, gives you a little more trust. When you look at most of the spammy answers given, you’ll see the spammers are too lazy to use an avatar for the most part.

After you have your avatar created, you’re pretty much ready to start answering questions.

Tips For Answering Questions on Yahoo Answers

The worst thing you can do on Yahoo Answers is to start putting a bunch of useless answers with links to your site. Chances are, your account will be banned until the end of the day. I see that happen there all the time.

I do not recommend spam Yahoo Answers. This does not make you any good.

Now, if your site is something you desire, then will answer questions on Yahoo Answers for your interest as well. Therefore it’s a great match for your site. If you are an expert on technology and your site is about technology, most likely you will find some questions that were posted by users Yahoo Answers, which relate to your niche.

The more qualitative answers you provide, the more you increase your score. For each answer you give, you get 2 points. There are other ways to get points, but answer questions and receive them * star * are the most common.

These are levels that go as you answer questions. Will start at Level 1 and work your way up. As a member of Level 1 will be able to answer 20 questions a day, to choose your questions wisely! As you reach other levels would be able to answer more questions a day with your account.

Strategies

Yahoo Answers has a left side bar with Categories. I drill down to the specific category and there’ll be a list of the Answers in the center of the page. The top of the list is the Question asked most recently. I refresh my browser constantly trying to be the first person to Answer a question.

I DO NOTput a link in every Answer and I don’t suggest you do either. You’ll get banned pretty quick. The group over on Yahoo Answers are pretty sensitive when it comes to spamming. Any whiff of a spammer and POOF, you’re gone.

Just to look natural, which is for me because it helps people must answer questions in other categories if you can help.

I only post links to your site in about 1 of every 5-7 answers given. Remember that trying to avoid drawing unwanted attention to yourself!

That’s about it, it’s easy to use. Once you get a good one account, you may want to think about opening a new account and tried a second account at another location ;)

BTW, from what I can tell, the traffic you get from Yahoo Answers converts very well. After all, if you’ve done it right, you have already showed them your an expert in your field!

Take Advantage of Your Drive Time

Two days last week I had to go into Houston in the morning. This is something I try and avoid like the plague until later in the day when traffic thins out. But on these two days, I had to fight the concrete jungle. Sure enough, I got caught in several rush hour traffic jambs.

Now I’m a people observer. I can sit in one place and watch how people act and never get bored. So I started looking at other people in cars around me. Heck, it’s not like we are moving everything quickly. In a transport support, it took me almost an hour to get through.

Anyway, I saw people reading books and newspapers, putting makeup, grooming, shaving, cursing and listening to their IPod, and among other things.

This made me think about all the time that we waste. Many people use the excuse of “I do not have enough time” when someone says why they have not done this or that.

These people waste about 2-3 hours a day sitting in traffic. What can you do with an extra 2-3 hours?

Here are Tips to Take Advantage of Your Drive Time

  • Although I don’t recommend it, even if you’re sitting in a Traffic Jamb, I see people using laptops with wireless cards and SmartPhones all the time. They are certainly taking advantage of their downtime.
  • I personally use my drive time to listen to Self Help tapes and mp3′s. It’s a rare moment when I actually use my Radio to listen to Music!
  • I’ve said before that I print out eBooks so that I can make notes in them. I usually have at least 1 eBook in the pickup with me at any given time. If I’m sitting in traffic I whip it out and start reading. I don’t recommend this if you’re driving!
  • There is a guy I know who has a DVD player in his car. He uses it to watch movies in Traffic. I’d burn some tutorials on to it and watch them. You can also do this with a laptop if you have an Auto mount in your vehicle. Again, it should go without saying, don’t try this if you’re driving.
  • There is always a good idea pop into your head and wanted to write but did not have paper and pen or you were driving? I hold in my small digital console. This is great for recording my thoughts when they pop into my head. They are also great for dictating license plate numbers of idiot drivers!

You can use these tips to turn drive time into money making time! Life is all about choices they make. You can choose to increase your knowledge base so that you are profitable or continue listening to some idiot shock jock who became rich from you listening to him run his mouth.

Will Google Deliver The Death Blow For BANS Sites?

bansprogram

Google and BANS. Once we thought this was a match made in Heaven. Nowadays, if you’re a BANS owner, you probably think you’ve been in affiliate marketing Hell. First there was the Ebay Partner Network canning hundreds of eBay affiliates, many who had Build A Niche Store sites up, and now Google has been either penalizing or out right indexing BANS sites from the SERPS.

Yeah, for some of you BANS owners, it’s been a pretty tough last few months.

I’m knocking on wood here. If you remember from my initial Build a niche store review, my goal was to build 100 banned websites. Now I thank my lucky star that I AMADD (Affiliate Marketing Attention Deficit Disorder) and only doing it to 30 points before losing focus and go do something else. So far none of my sites have been touched by one of Google or eBay. I’ll give you my theories on why it’s down the page.

A Few Theories Why Google Is De-Indexing BANS sites.

I’ve been following a lot of the chatter on forums about this subject as well as receiving a lot of email. This is what I’ve figured out to this point. No one has 100% concrete proof why Google is de-indexing BANS sites. There are a few theories floating around.

  1. Disable the program has been used by many spammers. Many of these boys / girls were throwing the huge number of banned sites. info domains. They never bothered to change anything with the programs, their only concern is to get as many sites are prohibited as they could, as cheaply as they could. This left a huge trail for Google to follow.
  2. Most of these same people never bothered to put any content on their sites. They were simply ebay sites with ebay auctions on them. This would be what Google calls a “thin affiliate” site. And we know what Google does with thin affiliate sites.
  3. In order for Google to get all the spammy BANS sites, it had to take some legitimate sites along with them. It’s the shotgun approach. Use a huge pattern to make sure you get all of them. Try and limit the casualties but go forward knowing some innocent victims will be in the pattern.

My Theory On Why Google Hasn’t De-Indexed All BANS Sites

Even as when I bought Build Niche Store program, talked about Google finding the footprint of all standard templates and prohibit them punished. It seems this bird has come home to roost. From the outset, here is what I did to try and ban my site unique from all other “cookie cutter banned sites.

  • I changed up the CSS a little bit on every site. I made sections like the header and content fields larger and smaller.
  • I changed the colors on every site.
  • I changed the size of the headers on every site and used graphic headers.
  • I DID NOT go out and start sending hundreds of backlinks to my sites. I built them up over time using blog carnivals, article submissions, reciprocal linking and adding one way permanent links.
  • I added content to nearly every page plus I used a lot of graphics.
  • I never put eBay auctions on my main page. I put content on the index page to make it look as much like a informative content site as I could. Just look at how many BANS sites have nothing more than auctions on their front page.
  • On many of the domains that hosted my BANS sites, I added blogs, article directories and forums to many. (mostly just blogs that supported the main domain)
  • I never put more than 2 BANS sites on one hosting account plus I paid extra for all sites to have a dedicated IP’s. I’ve read stories of people hosting all their BANS sites with one hosting company. Wow, I can’t fathom that idea. I’m just too paranoid I suppose.
  • I only used dot com domains. Of course, these last two items is what I do for nearly all of my affiliate sites, not just for BANS. I want to make it as hard as possible for Google or any other search engine to spy on my websites.

Now, I’m not saying if you do these things that Google will not index your site. These are things I do every site had banned. I did this from day one and as I said above, knock on wood, my sites that are not touched. In fact, many of them are still climbing the SERPS.

Is the Build A Niche Store Still Worth Buying?

I’ve had a few emails asking that question. Honestly, I’d say yes it is. But only if you intend to build sites that have a lot of content and you make them unique. If you’re plan is to buy it and throw up a bunch of BANS sites without adding any value to them, I think you’d be wasting your money. Google is on to you.

Alternatives to The Build A Niche Store program

If you’ve been reading this blog for more than a week or so, you know I’m impressed by PHPBay plugin for WordPress. As I mentioned in my post Advanced Build Niche Store Strategies, I’ve been doing PHP Bayand WordPress blogs and stores with eBay auctions. It seems that every week my PHPBay / WordPress stores outproduce my Build Niche Store sites. Hey, it’s no secret that Google is crazy in love with blogging WordPress. Why not take advantage of it? Plus, to be honest, and WordPress blog site PHP Bay combination just looks much better than 99% of prohibitions sites out there, mine included. (Hey, maybe Google hates ugly sites?)

Whatever the real reason that Google is de-indexing or penalizing BANS sites, owners using this program need to proceed with caution. If you continue to make sites with BANS, then do everything in your power to make them unique and stand away from the crowd.

Outsourcing For Bigger Affiliate Marketing Paychecks

What one or two aspects of Affiliate Marketing that you hate to do? Maybe it’s writing content. Perhaps it’s building backlinks or building web sites or writing code. It really doesn’t matter what it is, you can find someone to do it for you and probably do it cheaper than what you think. It’s called outsourcing and when done properly, will leave you with plenty of time to concentrate on areas of your affiliate marketing that you enjoy and make the most money at.

Outsourcing your work isn’t for everyone. But at some point in your affiliate marketing efforts, you’ll have to decide whether or not to bring new people in. People who are just beginning in affiliate marketing generally have time to do all the things necessary to become successful.

Once you’ve started building up your portfolio, things can get pretty tight. Especially time. If you stay in this business long enough, there will come a point when you discover that you don’t have enough time to get everything you need done accomplished. When this happens, it’s time to look into outsourcing some of the chores.

For me, it was content writing. I had so many websites that I didn’t have time to write content for every one of them.

Don’t get me wrong, I love to write. But I can only do so much. Plus, there are different types of content. For my Adsense sites, I don’t need the best content. In fact, I’d say poor content will actually convert better on an Adsense site than good content. I can get 500 to 750 word articles written for these sites for as little as $3 to $5 per article. I don’t know about you, but my time is worth a lot more than that plus these articles pay for their self rather quickly.

There are literally people willing to do anything that you can think of. And many of them will do it rather cheaply. It comes down to the value of your time plus how much more money you could make by spending the time you do have on actions that create the most money for you.

By having a lot of articles written for my sites, the time this frees up is spent on building backlinks to my sites and creating more sites, which makes me a lot more money than writing content!

Where to find outsourcing resources

There Internet is a wonderful place to find people willing to work for you. All you need to do is look.

Here are some of my favorite places to find people to outsource my work to.

DigitalPoint forums. They have a section called the market. You can find anything you want here. Content writers, programmers, content, Ebook creation, Link building services to people who will build backinks for you and submit your articles to directories and so on. Do not forget to check out iTrader reputation of the person before letting him / her to work for you. Most of the other forums for webmasters also have a similar market. Other sites that may want to consider are: SitePoint, Webmaster World, V7N, Warrior forum, etc.

Elance, Rent-A-Coder, Rent A Freelancer, Get A Freelancer. These are great places to find people to outsource every aspect of your affiliate marketing. The building website templates for PHP programmers and people who will build landing pages, you will find them here.

Need-An-Article. When I need great content, I use these people. I can get a 1000 plus word articles written by native English speaking writer for less $ 12.50 and these criteria are good, or in many cases – better than ones I paid $ 30 or more for. Their research is excellent, and most of my article request turned in a few days.

Craigslist – Ha! Gotcha did not I? Yes, I’ve found some good freelancers on Craigslist. Several content authors and developers. Look to the bottom of the page under “Services”. Also do not forget to check out the “Gigs” section. If you want someone local, just put a post and there should be many people reply soon. There are tons of other places to find people to outsource your work to. For many of you, you get hung up on the cost to hire these people. I think this generally comes from lack of confidence on most peoples part. If your sites are making money, then your outsourced work will pay for itself many times over. This will free you up to create more sites or work on an area that you enjoy and let the freelancers work on the chores you hate to do or are not particularly good at.

One last bit of advice here. And better to be touched. Once you find several freelancers that you like, keep your contact information near the village of these people can be invaluable to you. Also, treat them fairly in all their business relationships. If they are good, they will be an asset to your business. The little money you will save by trying them fucked not worth it. A good freelancer can be like a goose that Golden egg.

Remember that you have the money Man, Rainmaker, the person with creative ideas. Do what they do best and let freelancers what they are best!To you people, I’d say give it a try. Budget some money and get those time sucking jobs that are holding you back outsourced! Your bank account will thank you!

Article Marketing Smackdown – Article Submission Reviewed

articlemarketingreview

I’ll guess that most of you know what a smackdown is. Well, I’ve decided to put some popular article submission sites in head to head review. I guess you could call it a article marketing Battle Royale. I get a lot of questions from readers wanting to know which is the best article submission site out there.

I know many of you use article marketing as a means to brand your blogs and websites and to drive traffic to them. That’s cool, I do for some of my blogs and websites also. Article marketing is a very good way to get the word out about your product or service.

The problem of many blog and website owners to decide on which site or article submission services to use. There are many sites, article submission on the internet today. For the purposes of this chapter to review the head, I’m choosing the most popular article submission sites that I know. Some are free and some are paid. I use these services or in the past and / or I currently use them. Article submission sites is EzineArticles, iSnare, GoArticles, Article Marketer, Article Marketing Automation and Unique Article Wizard.

How Article Marketing Smackdown will be judged

Judging by Smackdown, wrote the original article for a particular site of mine. I made it unique for each site, article submission (for the best as I could, every object has its own rules). Then submitted the article, each presentation of the services and wait for the results for several weeks. I believe that sufficient results have come now to bring this to an end Smackdown.

So, without further delay…I bring you the results of the article submission smackdown!

Unique Article Wizard

I’ve been using Unique Article Wizard (UAW) for about 6 months now.

I’m here to tell you that this has been a very good investment for me. I simply love UAW!

UAW’s is a very unique service. Due to the non-disclosure letter you have to sign when joining, I can’t go into details about how UAW works, just trust me when I say it will bring in a lot of one way links to your sites by distributing unique article to blogs, websites and directories. This service has been the fastest way to build legitimate one way back links that I’ve found, bar none!

But that’s not all. Unique Articles Wizard has another very powerful feature as it can make each of your resource box, and unique. It’s possible to add links to many sites with just one member.

You can also select how many times your article is distributed everyday. You can blasted to all places at once or choose your own number. I like to “drip” my articles and I think having a bunch of links displayed at once is not good for the site. Especially small objects. So I “drip” my articles from the selection that they had passed by about 20-30 per day.

After your article is distributed, you can check to see the actual number of website and email subscribers when your article is submitted. You can find this button on your dashboard in the column to your article title. Neat stuff.

Now, the article presents were distributed to 543 pages and directories and 71 email subscribers. Of this number, I can monitor about 107 references (as of this writing, I expect that number to increase over time) I got the site listed in my resource box. That’s a pretty big number! (I actually had some items better than that!)

The cool thing is, as people find these articles, they will use them and I’ll still be getting references long after the presentation is more than a village

Another benefit that isn’t advertised is this. Hit the page reload button on your browser when you’re viewing your article on UAW and you’ll see a completely new article every time your refresh (again, I can’t tell you how they do this, but it is very powerful). It’s awesome. I then will take one of these unique articles and submit it to the free article submission sites. I’ve also submitted them to Article Marketer to have them submitted. If you have blogs or websites in the same niche, you could use one of these unique articles that UAW makes as content on your site.

Article Marketing Automation (AMA)

I’ll be honest and tell you that I passed Article Marketing Automation the first time I heard about it. I wasn’t impressed with the advertising or the $47 per month price tag. Besides, I was already using UAW and figured that this service couldn’t be any better. Plus they used the words “spin” and “spun” in their advertising and that sounded cheap to me. I had visions of my sentences looking like “Affiliate marketing rolls down ice cubes after desert” or some other crap like that.

Thankfully, I was wrong.

But about two months ago an Internet Marketer who I trust told me I should be using AMA. He told me it was as powerful as UAW and had some other cool features that UAW didn’t.

So I signed up, figuring “What the hell, I’ll cancel if I don’t like it“.

Do I think that AMA is as good or better than UAW? No. But it’s close, damn close!

What I like about AMA is that the network is composed of sites and blogs, not directories. Also, my favorite feature is that you can add up to 3 links to body content. It is a resource box! All links included in the body. In my opinion those anchored links will pass more authority when the body of the article rather than a resource box. (Some site owners, remove the resource box or blog links in resource boxes for use with other services article submission)

Here’s a great tip for you. Is this article you submit and whether your own site, put the link as close to the top, you can get. Google figures must be important if you put them on top and you’ll get more weight transferred to your site or an internal page if the link happens to be on your site.

What I do not like in the AMA is that their network seems quite small. They advertise 2000 sites, but I have not seen that much closer. Of course, I know that my articles do not go to them all, but the best I’ve seen is a few people. Word is that they are constantly building a network so that is good news. Because they are relatively new, it may take some time to reach the size that some of the other.

But, as links in the content, rather than at the bottom of the page in the resource box, links I am passing more weight in my sites. This is probably only a small difference, but I’ll take all the help I can get!

In the article presents AMA is published 77 times (as of this writing) and three-fourths of those members are indexed by Google so far. Not bad!

If the level of service, both Customer service and the level of article submission, continues to grow, I see great things happening with Article Marketing Automation. Right now, I think it’s well worth the money. You can spend a lot more and get a helluva lot less with some of the other article submission services out there! This one is a keeper in my book! If they’re like any other Internet services, once they start growing, they will continue to raise the price, so you’d better get in quick if you want to lock in at a low price.

Ezinearticles

EzineArticles around awhile. In fact, I believe they are one of the first article directories. At least as best as I can remember. If any of you have read my previous post for EzineArticles, then you know others and myself had some problems with them over the years to accepted articles. Looking back, I think it started in earnest when they started their “Premium” paid service. I do not know whether it was coincidence or not.

They also offer free service for lodging and $ 97 per month “Premium” service. I looked through “features” of additional service and to be honest, I see no benefit. Certainly not $ 97 a month is worth it! There are too many other services that offer better services and more options for less than $ 97 per month IMHO.

But back to SmackDown.

I submitted an article about 3 weeks. It took several days for the article to be adopted. I’ve noticed for about the last month or so that my articles have been accepted more quickly. I do not know why, I just know the last few times I used them was gone without a hitch.

Anyway, the article has been viewed 232 times and is published 16 times to write this post.

Ezinearticle not tell you where submitted articles or sites that accept your article. But judging from my WordPress dashboard, this article sent me 19 backlinks to a site of mine. Looking through my websites, I found eight visitors, welcome to my site through this article and told me that I Eza board had nine URL clicks. Not great, but better than nothing, especially links.

GoArticles

GoArticles is a free submission site. Being free, the features are limited as to the stats you’ll get from your articles. The article I submitted has received 56 request since I submitted it. Now that doesn’t tell my everyone who has used my article because any article on GoArticles can be cut and pasted without requesting it.

One thing I really like about GoArticles is that you can put links in the body of the article and they don’t get bent out of shape about it.

As for the backlinks I received from that article, a search of my stats showed that I’ve received 8 backlinks from that article. One of them on an Authority blog.

Not great results, but remember, it’s free and you can add links in the body of the article without them getting all pissy about it. Also, I’ve never had an article rejected by GoArticles. From what I can tell, you’re article is accepted very quick. Hey, it’s free, what do you have to lose!

iSnare

This is a paid to submit an article service. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that they probably don’t make much money from this site because of the poor customer service and submission time I and others have had with them. It took over two weeks for my article to be accepted and distributed. From what I can tell, I haven’t received any traffic or backlinks from that article.

For the price you have to pay iSnare, their customer service and submission time should be a helluva lot better. I personally wouldn’t use them again until they start submitting articles for free or improve their customer service. There’s just too many good article submission sites out there, both free and paid ones, to put up with the B.S. from them.

Article Marketer

Update 2010: Article Marketer ceased operations around October of 2009. I figured this would happen because of the lousy service everyone was getting and the poor performance of the submitted articles. Sure enough, I was right. This service has been replaced by two other companies, which I’m now reviewing and waiting to see what the long term performance will be (or lack of). Look for the updated review here on my site. Thanks!

I’ve been using Article Marketer for over a year now. I’ve never really been happy with their service, but at the time they were one of the best article submission sites around. They advertise that you’re article will be reviewed by the next business day (or the use to advertise that, haven’t checked recently) but that hasn’t been my experience.

Here’s what usually happens. I submit an article and generally there is something wrong in their eyes. Maybe he does not meet the 400 requirement keyword, keyword density is too high or a dozen other reasons that I had. They hit it back to me, I fix it and send it again. Now we’ve lost another day.

You see, apparently “the next day starting from the time of filing late when you originally submitted it. So when you do not accept the article and will go back and fix it, the submission process starts all over again. You are at the back Part of the line.

The problem is, I think they are overworked and editors looking for reasons to reject your articles. I’ve had some of my articles rejected for the stupidest reason imaginable. One of the most common is that the article does not meet their requirements 400 words. Never mind that I just pulled it out of MS Word document that shows the number of items of 500 words. Or that rewrote Eza article that said the article was 475 words. Somehow census does not add up.

I also like his apology. “Most directories will not accept an article of less than 400 words or something to that affect. Bull! I get 250 and 300 word articles adopted in many article directories throughout the day.

As I said, or their editors are snowed or not they are native English speaking editors. I have a hunch it might be a bit of both.

I once wrote an article on a classic consumer product. For the sake of this post, let’s say the article was over the Model T Ford. So in this article I’m giving the history of the Model T Ford and describing how automobiles have evolved over the years.

They rejected the article the first time due to ‘too many keywords’. So I changed it up and resubmitted it. Then it was “we don’t accept articles that are product reviews. You will have to either change the wording of the article or compare the product with two other like products”.

WTF! Who’s smoking crack over there!

So I changed the article up. Sounded really stupid without using the words Model T Ford, since it was an article over the Model T Ford (well, not over the Model T, but over a Classic product that has been in service for more than 50 years). But I hope you get the point.

That’s just a few of the problems I have with them. It’s not uncommon to take a week or more to get my articles accepted by them after jumping through all the hoops they put in your way.

Since this is a paid service, I expect a lot better Customer Service than that and way better service from their submissions. I noticed that they’ve lowered their price to $21 per month now. I wonder if those of us who are already subscribed will get a discount?

I have to be honest with you. Until their submission acceptance service and their Customer Service gets a lot better, I wouldn’t recommend them. Not at $21 per month. If this was a free service, I could handle it. But when I’m paying top dollar, I expect better service from a company.

Now, on to the submitted report. Their site says my article was submitted to 945 directories and websites. It doesn’t tell me how many accepted my article. NOTE: Just because your article is submitted to a directory or website doesn’t mean it will be accepted. The site owner has the final say. This is true with all services that I’m aware of.

Out of that 945 directories and websites, I can track 22 backlinks. The reason is because of Google’s duplicate content penalty. Since this service blast out the same article to a thousand or so directories and blogs, only a few will be indexed by Google.

The Pro’s of using Article Marketing Automation is that each article ends up on a website or blog, not an article directory (that’s not a bad thing either, it’s still a backlink to your site!). Plus, I love how the anchored links are embedded into the content, not at the bottom of the page in a resource box. While I got fewer links with AMA, the links I did get were embedded into content on legitimate blogs and websites. This equals maximum passing of the link juice if the subjects are relevant!

Article Marketer comes in at third simply because of the amount of directories it submits too. The number of backlinks should have been greater, but they weren’t. Which tells me not all of the articles are getting indexed because all 945 articles were same with the same resource box. Other factors could have contributed to this, I don’t know.

Another negative about Article Marketer is that they use two types of resource boxes. One that you can only type in your url, which does not become a hyperlink on the site it ends up on. The other is the traditional resource box with two links in it. I speculate that many site owners choose to use the 1st resource box that only shows your URL as text. This could also be the reason for low backlinks versus the numbers of sites the article was submitted to.

Down at fourth we have Ezinearticles. Pretty decent backlinks for a free service. If I had to pay for this service, I drop it in a heartbeat due to the lack of submissions and the backlinks it produces.

GoArticles isn’t great, but they’re free and you can put links in the body of the article as well as the resource box. That alone makes it worth my time to add my articles to GoArticles.

iSnare. I wouldn’t waste a dollar or my time on them until they get their act together. When I hear others starting to have good results with them, maybe I’ll try them again, but not any time soon!

So there you have it. The finals of the Article Marketing Smackdown. If you’re on a limited budget, then use GoArticles and Ezinearticles until you can afford either Article Marketing Automation or Unique Article Wizard. You’ll build backlinks with the free sites, but at a much slower pace than you will with UAW or AMA. UAW and AMA will give you the most bang for the buck and help set your linkbuilding on the fast track to higher rankings.
